This is a 1/350 scale model of the German battleship "Bismarck - Revell 05040". At that time, "Bismarck" was the largest and most advanced battleship in the world with a displacement of 42,343 tons (the second was HMS Hood). She destroyed the large British battlecruiser HMS Hood in a naval battle on May 24, 1941. Together with her escort, the heavy cruiser Prince Eugene, Bismark scored a direct hit on the target with only the fifth salvo of her huge 38-cm guns, Hood sends her to the bottom. The legendary "Bismarck" was launched at the shipyard Blohm & Voss in Hamburg on February 14, 1940. "Bismarck" was the main capital ship in the fleet and the pride of Germany. Together with her sister ship Tirpitz, the Kriegsmarine became a force to be reckoned with. The new heavy artillery was capable of targeting shells weighing 800 kg, which allowed it to penetrate armor at a distance of 21 km. Slightly damaged during the battle, the Bismarck headed for a French port for repairs. It took virtually the entire British fleet of the Metropolitan to eventually sink her on May 27, 1941, and only 115 men out of a crew of 2,092 survived. The set consists of 659 parts, the length of the finished model is 718 mm.
