Jagdpanther is a German tank destroyer of World War II. The first prototypes of the machine were created in 1943, and serial production lasted from 1944-1945, ending with the release of 392 machines. The Jagdpanther was equipped with a Maybach HL 230 P30 single-cylinder engine with a capacity of 700 hp. It was armed with 1 88 mm PaK 43 L/71 cannon and 1 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun. The Jagdpanther was created in response to a request for a new tank destroyer announced by the German Army in August 1942. In response to this requirement, the cooperating Krupp and Daimler-Benz factories developed a preliminary specification based on the chassis of the PzKpfw V Panther tank and models approved by the German Army. The new tank destroyer had powerful weapons capable of destroying any enemy vehicle in the 1944-1945 period, as well as well-profiled armor, especially in the front of the machine. The disadvantages were the complex production process and the high specific cost of the machine, which significantly slowed down mass production. The Jagdpanther made its battlefield debut in the summer of 1944 in Normandy, then fought against the Western Allies in France and in the Ardennes operation at the turn of 1944-1945. It appeared on the Eastern Front in the fall of 1944, successfully fighting both the T-34 and the heavy IS-2. After World War II, the Jagdpanther served in the French Army until the 1960s!
