M142 HIMARS (abbreviation of English High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is an American rocket artillery system. A lighter version of the M270 with reduced firepower, but retaining the same arsenal and personnel protection. Designed for "shoot-and-run" tactics. Developed in 1996-2000. Produced since 2003.
