RLM 73 Green Guide:
The RLM 73 Grün was introduced in March 1938 according to L.Dv. 521/1.
RLM 73 Grün was proposed for use in Luftwaffe naval aviation camouflage, which was analogous to the standard green camouflage of land-based aircraft. The RLM 72 (which was also marked green) was also offered as a complement to the RLM 73 Green in this model. The lower surfaces are painted according to the standard scheme in RLM 65 Hellblau.
The aforementioned Luftwaffe naval camouflage, which involved the use of RLM 73 Grün, was used not only for seaplanes and flying boats, but also for seaplanes such as the Focke-Wulf FW 200 Condor, Dornier Do 217, etc.
According to M. Ullmann's latest research, RLM 73 was to be replaced in the naval scheme by the color 83, which he claimed was dark blue, in 1944, according to Sammelmitteilung 2 of 15 August 1944.
