Assembled model of the Hurricane Mk.I Italeri 2802 fighter
The Hawker Hurricane was the most widely used fighter of the British Royal Air Force at the beginning of World War II. The Hurricane was equipped with a 12-cylinder liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin engine with a capacity of more than 1000 hp, which could reach a speed of more than 500 km / h. The eight 7.7 mm Browning machine guns with which it was equipped ensured good fire power. Although it was slower and outdated in terms of aerodynamics, its famous "colleague" with which it took part in combat during the Battle of Britain, however, was stronger, cheaper and easier to maintain and repair. It made a significant contribution to the victory of the Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain, but during the war it gradually gave way to the role of front-line fighter to the more modern Spitfire.
