Assembled model D-Day Spitfire Quickbuild Airfix J6045

The Spitfire is a legendary British fighter aircraft of the Second World War, which became one of the symbols of the British resistance and Victory.

Designed by Reginald Mitchell, the Spitfire was distinguished by its elegant elliptical wings and exceptional flight characteristics. Equipped with a powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin (and later Griffon) engine, it had high speed, maneuverability and climb rate, which made it a formidable opponent in aerial combat. The Spitfire played a decisive role in the Battle of Britain of 1940, repelling Luftwaffe raids and defending the skies of Britain. Throughout the war, it was constantly modernized, receiving new engines, armament (from 8 machine guns to a combination of machine guns and 20 mm Hispano cannons) and improved aerodynamics, which allowed it to remain relevant until the very end of the war and even after it. The Spitfire is one of the most famous and beloved aircraft in aviation history.
