Collection model 1/35 Chinese 120mm anti-tank gun Type 89 Trumpeter 00306
Type 89 is a modern Chinese tank destroyer. The first prototypes of the car were built in the 1980s, and serial production began in 1989 and lasted until 1995, ending with the release of about 100 cars of this type. The Type 89 is equipped with a 520 hp WR4B-12V150LB engine. The machine is equipped with one 120-mm tank gun and two machine guns: 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm.
The Type 89 was developed by the Chinese Army as a defense against the emergence of new Western tanks with composite armor and Soviet tanks with improved reactive armor. Thus, when developing the Type 89, emphasis was placed primarily on firepower and mobility to the detriment of armor. It is likely that the Type 89 used many components and elements from the Type 83 self-propelled gun. However, the Type 89 self-propelled gun did not go into a really large series due to the end of the Cold War, but it also had numerous disadvantages: the high cost of production, the lack of stabilization of the gun in motion and small the range of a successful shot. Some machines of this type were equipped with anti-tank guided missiles. There is ample evidence that by 2015, Type 89 cars had been rolled off the assembly line.
