Mercedes-Benz 500K (type W29) is a sports car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1934 to 1936. It was presented for the first time at the Berlin Motor Show. It had the internal designation W29. Unlike the sedan 500, the car had a supercharger (compressor, Kompressor), which was denoted by the letter K; it was installed only on the company's sports cars. Compared to its predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz 380, which was made only the previous year, the 500K had a larger and more powerful engine, as well as more body styles available to meet customers' needs for more luxury and performance.
The 500K had an independent suspension similar to the 380 - the front on double wishbones and the rear two-hinged with rocker half-axles and an individual arrangement of wheels, coil springs and shock absorbers appeared for the first time.
Compared to the previous generation of S / SS / SSK roadsters of the 20s, the 500K was more comfortable and had better handling in comparison, and was very popular, especially with the growing number of female drivers.
A total of 8 bodies and several different chassis were available, for example, the long 4-door convertibles "B" and "C", as well as sedans and tourers were located on a chassis with a wheelbase of 3290 mm, and on a shortened base of 2980 mm, 2 -seater bodies (including high-performance versions of Motorway Courier and 1936 Special Roadster). All models had a protective windshield, hydraulic brakes and a 12-volt electrical system, sufficient to carry the load of electric wipers, door locks and turn signals.
