Lexus IS is a Japanese middle-class passenger car manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation, first presented to the public in 1998 during the Geneva Motor Show. Its serial production began in the same year and continues to this day. At one time, the model was produced or is being produced in three cities in Japan: Tahara, Kanegasaki and Miyawaka.

Model The IS was designed and put into production to expand the Lexus offering and increase its share of the mid-size car market in the US and Western Europe. At the moment, there are three generations of this model. The first was produced in 1998-2005 and consisted mainly of the IS200 and IS300 versions, which differed from each other mainly by engines with a capacity of 155 and 214 hp. The first generation offered a relatively rich basic equipment. In the period 2005-2013. the second generation of the IS model appeared, with a clearly changed style and an expanded offer of additional equipment. There are also new versions: IS250C and IS350C (convertible versions), IS-F (coupé version) and IS220. Since 2013, the third generation of the IS model has been produced, which has a slightly changed style and can be equipped with new engines. A version with a diesel-electric hybrid drive is also available.
