USS Bogue (CVE-9) is an American escort aircraft carrier, laid down in 1941, launched in January 1942 and commissioned by the US Navy in September of the same year. The length of the ship at the time of launching was 151.1 m, width - 34 m, and full displacement - 9800 tons. The maximum speed of the aircraft carrier reached 18 knots, and its main armament was up to 24 onboard aircraft.

USS Bogue was the first aircraft carrier of the same type. "God" class aircraft carriers were created on the basis of commercial units of the C3 type. Units of this type were built for various types of convoy and cover missions, not for independent action in strike groups. Hence their relatively weak airborne armament or the number of aircraft taken on board. On the other hand, they were built relatively quickly and in significant numbers. A total of 45 ships of this type were built! USS Bogue (CVE-9) began her World War II service with the Atlantic Fleet, which she finally joined in early 1943. It was mainly involved in ZOP (war against enemy) activities and protected convoys from North America to Great Britain. During its fourth voyage (April-May 1943), its carrier-based aircraft sank the first German submarine (U-569). In late 1944, the USS Bogue became a training ship and, to some extent, an aircraft carrier. In the summer of 1945, he was transferred to the Pacific Ocean, but did not take part in major military operations in this area. After the surrender of Japan, he transported American troops from the Far East to his homeland as part of Operation Magic Carpet. USS Bogue (CVE-9) was placed in reserve in 1946.
