This is the Rebel Alliance's most advanced fighter and one of the most powerful single-seat spaceships ever built. The T-65 X Wing Hunter gets its name from the superimposed twin wings that form an X in combat to increase the pilot's firing range. In addition to four high-quality laser cannons, the X-wing fighter has torpedoes, deflector shields, a hyperdrive and a navigation droid. Luke Skywalker prefers this type of hunter. It was used by a young Jedi to destroy the first Death Star at the Battle of Yavin. The X-Wing fighter quickly proved to be one of the most effective military vehicles in the galaxy. The unusual wing design of the T-65 is often seen as a recipe for the spacecraft's success. The twin pairs of wings remain closed during normal light-speed flight. They can be deployed in battle and penetrate the planet's atmosphere. At the tips of the wings are high-energy laser cannons that fire individually, simultaneously, in pairs, or in other combinations.
