Yamaha YZF-R1 is a Japanese sports motorcycle (so-called superbike), which was first presented to the public in 1997 in Milan. Soon after that, already in 1998, serial production began, which continues to this day. Much of it was concentrated in factories in the city of Iwata in Japan. The YZF-R1 model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of Yamaha Motor Company and from the very beginning was designed as one of the flagship models of the concern. It was also supposed to replace the YZF1000 R Thudnerace. The new motorcycle was designed from scratch, inheriting several details from its predecessor. First, an engine was designed from scratch that was very light (weight: 65.3 kg) but generated 150 hp! The weight of the motorcycle is also significantly reduced (to 177 kilograms) and the best aerodynamics and road characteristics have been taken care of. The result was a compact, light and powerful motorcycle capable of accelerating to 299 km/h! It is worth noting that in 2009, significant changes took place in the model, as the engine was replaced with a new one with even greater power (182 hp) and many technical solutions were used, including electronic ones, which are used in the Yamaha YZF-M1 racing motorcycle. The price of the new Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle on the Polish market starts at PLN 79,900.
