Yamaha YZR-M1 is a prototype of a Japanese racing motorcycle, first presented to the public in 2002. At the same time, its production began, which continues to this day. The YZR-M1 model was designed and put into production to replace the highly successful Yamaha YZR500 track motorcycle. Over its long racing career, the Yamaha YZR-M1 has undergone many changes and continued to evolve. The working volume (880 cm3, 900 cm3 or 1000 cm3) and the power of the engines that set it in motion have changed. In general, efforts have been made to keep as many advantages as possible from the YZR500 model, that is, first of all, good traction, very good traction properties, maneuverability and short braking distance, and add new ones - primarily to improve the characteristics, such as acceleration and top speed. The most fruitful period for the development of the design was the years 2004-2005, when the Yamaha team with the title of former Honda competitor Valentino Rossi, whose close cooperation with Yamaha engineers allowed to develop the YZR-M1 model in excellent condition. Finally, one of the best racing bikes of the early 21st century was created, competing in 253 races and winning 101 of them! The riders - mentioned above - Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have won the motorcycle world championship 7 times, and the constructors' team has won the world championship five times.
