Ilyushin-62M The first Soviet intercontinental jet passenger plane was the Il-62, developed in S.V. Ilyushin Design Bureau. The prototype took off on January 2, 1963. Serial production began in 1966. Since 1973, a promising Il-62M aircraft with new engines and a maximum flight range of over 11,000 km has been put into operation. Only until 2004, 190 Il-62M were produced. Il-62 served as the flagship of Aeroflot for several decades. They are actively supplied to many countries of the social camp. Today, there is a small number of Il-62M in operation.
