Launched on 7 May 1765, HMS Victory became famous as Admiral Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Victory in this battle ended Napoleon's attempts to dominate the sea, but it cost Admiral Nelson his life. She previously participated in many major actions against the Spanish and French fleets, and is now the oldest warship of the Royal Navy still in service, being the flagship of Portsmouth Command. After being restored to the same condition and appearance as at Trafalgar, she can now be seen in all her glory at her home in Portsmouth to visitors from all over the world.
