Benz car 1886 The Benz Patent-Motorwagen was the world's first car with an internal combustion engine. It was built by Karl Benz in 1885, and on November 2, 1886, the car was patented under the number 37435. The car had a gasoline engine, electric ignition, carburetor, cooling system, transmission and brakes. The chassis was made of steel pipes, the rear wheels were mounted on a rigid axle with elliptical springs. The decision to equip the car with three wheels was caused by the features of the steering, its handle was located in the center of the car. In August 1888, the wife of the inventor Bert, together with her sons, made the first road trip in a Benz car, about 104 km long. This trip received a wide response and successfully promoted the car.
