The Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera RSR was produced in 1974 in four copies to participate in the World Constructors' Championship racing season. Thus, it was possible to observe the participation of the factory with one or sometimes two cars under the colors of the Martini Racing Team, and entrusted to the official crews Müller - van Lennep and Koenigg - Shurty. Despite almost the same power (about 500 hp) with the power of competing cars, the Porsche was not distinguished by the lightness and controllability of the latter, which were in the prototype category. However, a good combination of speed and reliability led to respectable results in nine races on the calendar, including two second places: one at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and one at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen.
