Model car 1/24 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST165 1991 Tour de Corse NuNu PN24015 The Celica, which Toyota pioneered in a new genre of special cars, debuted in 1970. With its release, it gained high popularity due to its stylish shape and "full choice" system. In addition, the Celica was also used as the main vehicle for motorsport, its success brought even more popularity. In particular, the Celica also participated in the World Rally Championship under the leadership of Toyota Team Europe, led by Uwe Anderson, who was also a driver. Celica's capabilities have been demonstrated and raised worldwide. The first generation Celica debuted in November 1972 at the RAC Rally. After that, the Celica rally model changed in response to the Celica facelift. In the middle of the 1988 season, the Celica was reborn based on the fourth generation Celica. It was the Celica GT-FOUR (ST165) that Toyota used as a base car in response to the end of Group B rallying and the move to Group A. The Celica GT-FOUR has a displacement of 1988 cc and an in-line engine. four-cylinder turbocharged. An important feature was that the Celica GT-FOUR applied the advanced British 4WD XTRAC control system to achieve optimal distribution of torque to the four wheels according to the road conditions. However, since the Celica, which was chosen as the base rally car, was not originally designed for rally racing, its development required a lot of effort. The Celica GT-FOUR made its debut in the World Rally Championship in 1988, and from the following 1989 participated in full-scale competitions. Although the Celica ST165 was completed after many tests, problems during the actual competition were inevitable and additional efforts were required. And the efforts were paid off in 1990. The drivers were Carlos Sainz, Armin Schwartz and Mikael Eriksson, and they finally showed their abilities. Carlos Sainz won the 1990 WRC championship and brought Toyota its first world titles. In 1991, Carlos Sainz won the first round of Monte Carlo and Portugal. Sainz took the win in round five, while Toyota Fina's Marc Duez also finished fourth in the Tour de Corse. The Celica ST165 has earned a reputation as a rally car masterpiece. The Celica ST165, which has been on the rally scene with many teams and drivers since Toyota decided to enter the full-scale World Rally Championship, has been trained in many races and has grown into a masterpiece rally car.
