Estafette Highroof Heller 80740 Mini Bus 1/24 Kit The Renault 4 (Heller reference 80759), launched in 1961, is often believed to be Renault's first front-wheel drive car. This is not the case. It was a 1959 Renault Estafette SUV. French competitors at the time were Peugeot D3A/D4B and Citroën Type H (Ref. Heller 80768). In Germany, VW offered a rear-engined bus. Ford had the Taunus-Transit with an aesthetic similarity to the Estafette, with front engine and rear wheel drive. The Estafette was based on Citroën's front-wheel drive system, which thus offered a large flat boot floor, four independent suspensions, sliding side doors and tri-leaf rear doors. Initially, it was produced as a van with a load capacity of 800 kg, and from 1965 - 1000 kg, with a flat or high roof and a short or long wheelbase. With more than 500,000 units produced by 1980, the Estafette became an icon of its time.
