Built by Hawker Aircraft, it was a development of the Hurricane Mk I. The Hurricane Mk IIb was produced from 1941 and was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine that gave it a top speed of 607 km/h. The plane was armed with various weapons, including machine guns and cannons. It was mainly used as a fighter, but could also be used as a bomber. The Hurricane Mk IIb was produced in large numbers and was one of the main aircraft used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the Second World War. It also played an important role in the defense of Britain during the Battle of Britain. A total of over 14,000 Hurricane Mk IIbs were produced. It was also used by other air forces, including the Soviet Air Force. After the war, the Hurricane Mk IIb continued to be used by many of the world's air forces for some time before being replaced by more modern aircraft.
