The Commonwealth is a name that during the Second World War could be translated as the Commonwealth of Britain and later as the Commonwealth of Nations. It was and remains an international organization created in December 1931, which unites the former colonies of the British Empire. It includes, in particular, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. During the Second World War, the Commonwealth countries supported Great Britain in its war against the Axis powers and often sent large military contingents. The lion's share of them was infantry, and not every Commonwealth could create armored divisions. Such compounds were produced only by: Australia (3 tank divisions), Canada (2 divisions) and South Africa. It is worth adding that two tank divisions were also formed in the British Indian Army. Regardless of the year of formation of this or that division and the year of its formation, its structure was practically identical to the British organization of this type of units. Two examples can be given. The first will be the first Australian armored division. The 1st tank division) was formed in 1941, which included 2 tank brigades, 3 tank battalions in each and (since February 1942) the so-called A support group with infantry and artillery units. This structure coincided with the time of the British division in 1940. The second example is the 4th Canadian Armored Division, converted from an infantry division in 1944 [eng. 4th Canadian (Armoured) Division] .It included an armored brigade, a motorized rifle brigade and auxiliary units such as artillery, sappers and communications. Also in this case it coincided with the time of the British division. Armored car of 1944. The equipment of these divisions was mainly British, and even imported or licensed American equipment. However, it is worth noting that Canada created its own tank called the RAM in the Mark I and II versions.
