KHD S3000/SS M Multier The main part of the vehicle fleet of the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War consisted of 3-ton trucks. One of the most numerous of them was the KHD S3000, which was produced from 1940 at the Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz plant (before 1938 and after 1945 - Magirus) in Ulm. This truck was equipped with a 4-cyl. The Deutz Diesel engine had only rear-wheel drive. KHD S3000 trucks were widely used in all branches of the German army until the end of the war everywhere - on the Soviet-German front, in North Africa, Italy, France. In off-road conditions, non-four-wheel drive machines showed poor cross-country ability, so 1740 KHD S3000s were produced as Maultier half-tracks in 1942-1944.
