Armor-S1 (GRAU index - 96K6, at the stage of development had the verbal name "Tunguska-3", according to NATO codification - SA-22 Greyhound, from the English - "Horta") - Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun complex (ZRPK) of ground-based and sea-based. The complex was developed by a number of structures of the defense-industrial complex of the USSR and Russia, led by JSC "Design Bureau of Instrumentation". It is intended for close-range cover of civilian and military objects (including long-range air defense systems) from all modern and promising means of air attack. It can also protect the defended object from ground and surface threats. The work on the creation of the complex was completed in 1994, it was demonstrated for the first time at MAKS-1995. In 2006, testing of a modern model of the complex on the KamAZ chassis began at the Kapustin Yar test site. Tests of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile defense system took place during 2006-2007 at the Kapustin Yar and Ashuluk test sites in the Astrakhan region. The last known modification was demonstrated at MAKS-2007. On November 4, 2012, by order of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation D. A. Medvedev, the Pantsir-S1 air defense system was adopted by the Russian Armed Forces. In 2015, a new complex "Pantsir-S2" with improved characteristics was adopted. In 2016, the development of the modification of the "Pantsir-SM" complex was completed, in which the target engagement range was increased to 40 km due to the use of a newly developed multifunctional aiming station.
