Krankenpanzerwagen
Sd.Kfz.251/8 Ausf.A, German 2SV sanitary armored personnel carrier with medical personnel Before the warehouse of platoons, companies and battalions, the Wehrmacht received combat doctors who provided immediate medical care to the wounded. In infantry companies there were also non-commissioned officers of the medical service, and in the same battalion, centralized medical assistance was provided by a military doctor (Assistenzarzt or Oberarzt). The Wehrmacht's combat doctors were also credited for evacuating the wounded to first aid stations or collection points. For evacuation, armored transporters could be used, one of which would be the special medical armored personnel carrier Sd.Kfz.251/8 or the “Krankenpanzerwagen”. This armored personnel carrier can transport a large number of wounded people, for which purpose special loads and seats are provided. In addition, round slats for the awning were installed on the body of the animal, which was protected from disrepair. Armored medical transporters entered the warehouse of the headquarters company (Stabskompanie). For visual benefit, standard cars and transporters have small large signs with a red medical cross.
