PzKpfw VI Tiger (P) [other names: VK4501(P) or Porsche Typ 101 or in short – Tiger (P)] is a German prototype of an important tank of the Second World War. The prototype of the machine was built in 1942, but it never entered mass production. The length of the car was 9.54 meters, the width was 3.4 meters. The tank was equipped with two Porsche Type 101 TRM engines with a power of 310-320 horsepower each. It was armed with 1 88 mm KwK 36 L / 56 machine gun and 2 7.92 mm MG 34 machine guns. . The Tiger (P) was developed for the needs of the German ground forces as a new, powerful tank capable of fighting the Russian T-34s at long range. His main victory on the battlefield was a powerful fireball and very strong armor. The presented car became a specific development of the VK3001 (P) project, and in comparison with it, besides other things, had clearly enhanced frontal armor. During field tests, the Tiger (P) turned out to be a very poorly designed vehicle, with high weight and low mobility in field conditions. One of the main problems was the use of a mobile power unit, which could overheat and become clogged. It turned out that Tiger (P) did not achieve mass production and lost the competition to the Henschel plant. It is worth noting that the chassis manufactured for the Tiger (P) were used for the production of Ferdinand tank destroyers (Sd.Kfz. 184).
