The Sd.Kfz 164 Nashorn (German Rhino) was created in 1942 as a tank destroyer and counter to the threat posed by the German Soviet Panzerwaffe T-34. This was seen as a temporary solution, especially given the fatal armor and very tall silhouette of the machine. However, she served until the end of the war both in the East and in Italy and on the Western Front. These shortcomings were largely offset by the highly effective 88 mm PAK43 / L71 anti-tank gun. He was able to destroy any allied or Soviet tank (maybe, except the IS-2) at a distance of 2000-2500 m, and the unofficial record is the destruction of an enemy tank from a distance of 4600 m! The total number of Hornisse cars produced was limited to 494 units and concentrated mainly at the ALKETT plants. Throughout the war, the machines were equipped with Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 560, 655, 525, 93, 519 and 88.
