T-80 - Soviet and Russian main battle tank, so-called The 3rd generation of the Cold War and modern times. The first samples of this machine were built in 1967-1975, and the machine entered service in the second half of the 1970s. According to estimates, at least 5,400 copies of this car were built. The combat mass of the T-80B version reaches 42.5 tons. The drive is provided by one VMD-1000 gas turbine with a capacity of 1000 hp, and in later modifications - a VMD-1250 with a capacity of 1250 hp. The main armament was a 125-mm smoothbore gun 2A46M, the auxiliary armament consisted of a 7.62-mm PKT machine gun and a 12.7-mm NSV machine gun. The T-80 tank was the first mass-produced vehicle, the so-called The 3rd generation in Radzytsky's army and the first in the world with a gas turbine. Despite the external similarity with the T-64 or T-72 tanks, this is not just a development, but actually a completely new design. In the course of serial production, many modifications of the T-80 were created, among them: T-80B (a machine with a fire control system [SKO] 1A33, with enhanced armor and the ability to fire a 9K112-2 "Koba" missile from a gun), T-80U ( tank with SKO 1A46, reinforced drive and added dynamic protection "Kontakt-5") or T-80UM (machine with new guidance systems). It is worth noting that now various modifications of the T-80 tank are in service, for example, in Egypt, the Russian Federation, South Korea and Pakistan.
