Assembled model 1/35 helicopter "D" OF THE WORLD AH-64D Attack Helicopter Takom TAKO2606 Material from Wikipedia AH-64 Apache (Ukrainian: "Апа́чи"[5][a]) is an American main attack helicopter that has been in service with the US Army since the mid-1980s. The AH-64 helicopter was selected as the winner in a competition with Bell's YAH-63 in December 1976. The name Apache was attached to the helicopter in 1981. Five aircraft manufacturing companies took part in the competition: Boeing-Vertol, Bell Helicopter, Hughes Helicopters, Lockheed, and Sikorsky. In December 1976, Hughes Helicopters was announced as the winner of the competition with the YAH-64 helicopter. After winning the competition, the company continued long-term testing of the helicopter and introduced a number of changes to its design and on-board equipment. In total, the amount of summer tests was 2400 hours. Due to a number of difficulties, the decision on serial production was postponed for two years. Military trials of the helicopter began only in the summer of 1981. As of 2018, the US military had no plans to replace the AH-64 with newer helicopters. Presumably, their service life will be extended and they will remain in service until 2040[6]. A total of 937 "A" helicopters were delivered by 1997, over 1,000 AH-64Ds from 1997 to 2013, and over 500 AH-64Es since 2011. Product description: Scale: 1/35
