Assembled model 1/350 aircraft carrier U.S. Navy Escort Carrier USS Gambier Bay (CVE-73) Hasegawa 40027 This is a set of die-cast plastic model ships. Hasegawa's magnificent model of the USS Gambier Bay escort carrier depicts the ship as it appeared during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944. Includes three Avengers and six Dickies, all with folding wings. Also includes a 13-page ship brochure with black and white photos and text in Japanese and English. The 19-page instruction manual also includes Japanese and English, as well as a page with die-cut masks that can be used to help paint the impressive camouflage worn by Gambier Bay. The model will be 47.7 cm long when finished. Stylish exhibition stands included. USS Gambier Bay (CVE-73) is an American escort aircraft carrier, laid down in July 1943, launched in November of the same year and entered the US Navy at the end of December. The length of the ship - at the time of launching - 156.1 m, overall width - 33 m, displacement - about 7800 tons. The maximum speed of the aircraft carrier reached 19 knots, and its main armament was up to 28 onboard aircraft. USS Gambier Bay (CVE-73) was one of the Casablanca-class escort carriers. Its units were built for a variety of convoy and cover tasks, and not for independent actions as part of strike groups. Hence their relatively poor onboard equipment or the number of aircraft taken. However, they were built relatively quickly and in significant numbers. A total of 50 ships of this type were built! USS Gambier Bay (CVE-73) began her World War II role in the Pacific Fleet by ferrying several hundred personnel from the US West Coast to Pearl Harbor in early 1944. In June of this year, he supported the landing of US Marines on Saipan. However, in July and August, its carrier-based aircraft provided operations on the islands of Tinian and Guam.
