Italeri 2827 1/48 F-5E Tiger II Multirole Fighter description SUPER STICKER FOR 4 VERSIONS - COLOR INSTRUCTIONS FIGURE NOT INCLUDED - CONTAINS 1 MODEL The Northrop F-5 was born in the 60s to meet the needs of many NATO countries that needed a simple, cheap and easy-to-maintain multi-role fighter. The F-5E Tiger II was created in the early 1970s from the original airframe. Equipped with a pair of new J85-GE-21 engines capable of guaranteeing much more power and thrust than the previous version, it featured a lengthened and enlarged fuselage. The improved flight characteristics obtained from the new aerodynamic layout, longer range and updated avionics allowed the Tiger II to be successfully used by many air forces. The main armament consists of two 20-mm guns mounted in the bow under the cockpit, and the ability to use various combinations of air-to-air missiles. However, in addition to its primary fighter role, it still retained extensive ground attack capabilities.
