Prefab model 1/48 aircraft De Havilland Tiger Moth Airfix A04104A From a student pilot's point of view, the de Havilland Tiger Moth was a relatively stable and simple aircraft that had few handling faults and generally supported the odd novice pilot's stupid mistake. It quickly developed a reputation as "an aircraft that is easy to fly but difficult to fly", making it an ideal aircraft for training the large number of pilots destined to fly during World War II. At the start of the war, the Royal Air Force had about 500 Tiger Moths in service, but requisitioned hundreds more from flying clubs across the country.
