Do 215 B-4 In the early 1930s, the concept of a high-speed bomber capable of outrunning modern fighters appeared. One such bomber was the German Dornier Do 17. The first flight of the Do17V-1, announced as a passenger aircraft, took place in November 1934. A modification of the Do 17Z with a new Waffenkopf fuselage nose and radial engines appeared in late 1938. From the beginning of 1940, a small number of Do 215 aircraft were produced, which were distinguished by the installation of liquid-cooled DB 601A engines. Do 215B-4 were used as long-range photo reconnaissance aircraft in France and on the Soviet-German front.
