Chengdu J-10 (other designation: Jian J-10) is a modern Chinese multi-role fighter, which is a low-wing wing in a "duck" configuration. It is powered by one Saturn-Lulka AL-31FN or WS-10A turbofan engine. The first flight of this machine took place in March 1998. Serial production began in 2003 and, according to estimates, by the end of 2017, about 350 machines of this type had been produced. On-board armament consists of one 23-mm GSH-23 gun. Work on the Chengdu J-10 probably began in 1984 and was to lead to the creation of a new light fighter for the Chinese Air Force. Of course, in the work on it, the experience gained from the abandoned J-9 fighter project was used. However, information about cooperation on the J-10 with Israeli companies, especially with IAI, is not confirmed. In the course of research, it became clear that the main problem was the choice of the right drive, and only in the late 1990s, in connection with the warming of relations with the Russian Federation, it was possible to obtain the appropriate engines. from this country. In the course of serial production, three main research versions of the Chengdu J-10 were created, for example: J-10A (basic serial version), J-10S (two-seater training variant), J-10B (training variant). an improved version of the fighter with much richer avionics) .
