Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 (NATO: Fulcrum) is a 4th generation Soviet twin-engine heavy front-line fighter with a trapezoidal striped wing. The number of MiG-29s produced in the period from 1977 to 1992 alone, exceeding 1000, proves the potential capabilities of this aircraft. In fact, it should be included in the group of 3 or 4 most important fighters of the 4th generation in the world that are currently in active service. The MiG-29 was developed in the 1970s as a design that could match or even exceed the combat capabilities of fighters from the then hostile Western camp. And it must be admitted that it is in no way inferior to, for example, the F-16, but in many respects, such as a powerful twin-engine drive, it is superior to the American competitor. Since the MiG-29 was designed for the fastest service possible, even in field conditions and by mechanics with minimal experience, any repair can be performed quickly. It's hard to imagine, but 5 mechanics are able to replace and test the engine in less than time! Fulcrum's extraordinary abilities do not end there. In case of problems with the drive, even with a full load, it can start using one engine, and then shoot into the air with the other. The permanent armament of the MiG 29 is the 30-mm GSH-301 gun, known for its accuracy. External nodes can carry AA-10, AA-11 or AA-8 air-to-air missiles, as well as UB-32-57 or unguided, but larger S-8K missiles to combat ground targets not only of the countries of the former Eastern block countries, but also many other users who appreciated its great potential. Several modifications of this successful fighter were created. The most important of them, including the first serial, i.e. MiG-29 (Fulcrum-A) with S-29 "Topaz" radar and OEPrNk-29 optical-electronic system. Another development option is the MiG-29M (Fulcrum-E) with the S-29M Żuk radar with a longer range and an improved guidance and aiming system. More powerful RD-33K engines were used instead of the RD-33. An electric remote control system was also used. Technical data: length: 17.37 m, wingspan: 11.4 m, height: 4.73 m, maximum speed: 2400 km/h, rate of climb: 330 m/s, maximum range: 2100 km, maximum ceiling 18,000 m, armament: stationary. 1 30-mm GSH-301 gun, suspended (variant M) — up to 5,000 kg of cargo.
