Model 1/48 Typhoon Mk.Ib w/Tear Drop Canopy Hasegawa 09060 Hawker Typhoon - British single-seat, single-engine, metal half-body, low-wing attack fighter of the Second World War. Designed to the requirements set out by the British Ministry of Defense in specification F.18/37 of 1937, by renowned designer Sydney Kemm. The flight of the prototype took place on February 24, 1940, and serial production of the machine began in 1941. The planes were equipped with three versions of the Napier Saber Mk.II engine with a range of 2,180 to 2,260 km. There were five versions of this aircraft. The first two are the F.Mk.IA and F.Mk.Ib fighters, which differ mainly in the airborne armament of the AI Mk.IV and the Hawker Typhoon FR Mk IB radar fighter – reconnaissance variant. After overcoming initial design problems, especially engine deficiencies, the Hawker Typhoon also achieved great success against V-1 shells and German tanks during the Normandy battles. In total, more than 3,300 copies were built.
