Zlin Z-142 is a modern training and sports aircraft produced in Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic) with a metal structure in a low wing configuration. The drive is provided by one Avia M-337/AK engine with a maximum power of 210 hp. The first flight of this machine took place in December 1978. Serial production was carried out in 1981-1990 and led to the creation of approx. 270 aircraft of this type. The Z-142 was developed based on the experience gained from operating the very successful Zlin aircraft: the Z-42 and Z-43. He also took many components and design solutions from them. At the same time, however, it used an all-new powerplant with higher peak power, richer avionics, and improved—and therefore very good—aerodynamics. All this contributed to a very successful aircraft which was exported to many countries including Algeria, Bulgaria, Germany and Poland. In our country, it became one of the most popular aircraft used in civil aviation clubs, and in 2006 there were 48 such aircraft in Poland.
