The Boeing AH-64 Apache is an American twin-turbo attack helicopter with a tailwheel landing gear and a tandem cockpit for a crew of two. It is equipped with a set of nose-mounted sensors for target detection and night vision systems. It is armed with a 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 chain gun located between the main landing gear, under the nose of the fuselage, and four mounts mounted on wing pylons to carry armament and supplies, usually a mixture of AGM-114 Hellfire.missiles and missile blocks Hydra 70 . The AH-64 has significant system redundancy to increase combat survivability. The Apache began as the Model 77, developed by Hughes Helicopters for the US Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter program to replace the AH-1 Cobra. The first flight of the YAH-64 prototype took place on September 30, 1975. The US Army preferred the YAH-64 over the Bell YAH-63 in 1976 and later approved full production in 1982. After acquiring Hughes Helicopters in 1984, McDonnell Douglas continued AH-64 production and development. The helicopter was adopted by the US Army in April 1986. The improved AH-64D Apache Longbow was delivered to the Army in March 1997. Production continued at Boeing Defense, Space & Security, with more than 2,400 AH-64s built by 2020. Paints and glue are not included in the set
