Prefab model 1/72 aircraft Bristol Beaufort Mk.I Airfix A04021 159 Parts in a set Bristol Beaufort Mk.1
Entering service with the Royal Air Force as part of Coastal Command No. 22 Squadron in January 1940, the Beaufort proved to be a robust and extremely maneuverable aircraft. The Australian-built Beaufort 700s were considered to be among the most reliable Alliance aircraft to operate in these often challenging conditions and were well liked by both air and ground crews. Scale 1:72
Very detailed model The second of a successful trio of twin-engined aircraft designed by the Bristol Airplane Company during the 1930s, the Beaufort is significant as the only monoplane produced for the Royal Air Force designed from the outset as a torpedo bomber and reconnaissance platform. Based on the Blenheim light bomber, the Beaufort was taken off the drawing board by the Air Ministry, a move that showed great faith in the Bristol Company and at the same time illustrated the Royal Air Force's urgent need for an effective torpedo bomber.
