The North American FJ-4 Fury is an American jet fighter of the Cold War era. The flight of the prototype took place in 1954. The machine was presented to the US Navy shortly after being withdrawn from them in the late 1960s. In total, about 370 copies of this aircraft were built. Drive was provided by a single-engine Wright J65-W-16A turbojet engine. The plane developed a maximum speed of 1,090 km/h, and the maximum flight range was up to 3,200 kilometers. On-board armament consisted of four 20-mm guns. The North American FJ-4 Fury was designed as a very far-reaching development of the FJ-2 / FJ-3 aircraft. It borrowed the general concept and design from them, but had a completely redesigned wing shape, a redesigned tail, and a slightly different fuselage shape. It also showed improved performance. During serial production, two main versions of this machine were created: FJ-4 (basic version, fighter version) and FJ-4B (assault version). The only user of the FJ-4 was the US Navy and the US Marine Corps.
