FW 189A-1 Focke-Wulf Fw 189A Uhu ("Owl") is a German twin-engine twin-gun three-seater tactical reconnaissance and military aircraft. It entered service with the Luftwaffe in 1940 and was produced until mid-1944. A total of 845 serial aircraft were produced. The FW 189A-1 modification had a defensive armament of two MG 15 machine guns. The Fw 189A, dubbed the "Flying Yew" of the German Army, was widely used on the Eastern Front with great success. Its Russian nickname was "Rama" (frame), referring to its characteristic tail arrow shape.
