Prefab model 1/72 heavy transport aircraft AC-119K Stinger Italeri 1468 description SUPER STICKER FOR 4 VERSIONS - COLOR INSTRUCTIONS The Fairchild C-119 heavy transport aircraft with two radial engines was used by the United States. The BBC is the basis for the "flying gunner" convention. These particular conversions were built in limited numbers for use against Viet Cong support roads and troop concentrations during the Vietnam War. The AC-119K version, armed with 2 x 20mm cannons and 4 x 7.62mm machine guns, was very successful in night raids against trucks. Another version, type AC-119G, was distinguished by lighter weapons. 2 additional jet engines are added to the airframe to assist take-off from natural airstrips when loaded with munitions. With the introduction of the more powerful AC-130H, these aircraft were gradually transferred to the South Vietnamese Air Force, which used them until the fall of the Saigon government.
