Having grown as the main carrier of the US Navy, the F-14 Tomcat was able to conquer the battle in the air, accompanying the strikes and, without a doubt, being one of the most complex and technologically advanced aircraft, and perhaps served on aircraft carriers. The prototype of the machine was launched on April 21, 1970, and the first aircraft were delivered to the US Navy through several fates. The remaining Tomcat aircraft were retired in 2006, which miraculously illustrates the high power and exceptional characteristics of this machine. The most innovative and characteristic solutions for the F-14 are the variable geometry wings. Carved with a computer or manually with a pilot can change the attack angle from 20 degrees at minimum speed to 60 degrees at supersonic speed. The geometry of the wings, which changes, also allows for optimal expansion of the wings during intensive maneuvering, which is why the entire flight demonstrates amazing maneuverability. The heart of the Tomcat armored system is the Hughes ANG-9 radar, which interacts with AIM-54A Phoenix round-trip missiles with a range of up to 180 km. The ability to match and attack more than one weapon is especially important. An equally important element of the armor, showing the combat evidence of the war in Vietnam, is the harmata - the F-14 is installed in the middle of the M-61 Vulcan hull, which fires up to 6000 rounds per shot! Of course, other types of armor can be attached to the Tomcat, such as Sparrow missiles, Sidewinder missiles and various bombs. The success of the F-14 is also due to the miracle power plant of a pair of Pratt-Whitney TF30 engines with a thrust of 9300 daN at afterburner. Technical data: Maximum speed: 2480 km/year, speed of climb: 153 m/s, practical range 17100 m, maximum range: 3200 km, armored: stationary - one-piece, six-barrel 20 mm M61-A 1, suspended - up to 6 kg vantazhu.
