The P-47 was a heavy air superiority fighter weighing 7 tons. Due to its bottle-shaped shape, it was often called the "Baby Bottle". The P-47 project began in 1939 and entered production in late 1942. Approximately 15,683 P-47s were produced during World War II. Originally designed as an air superiority fighter, the P-47 excelled in both air interception and ground attack missions. Its sturdy airframe and powerful engine made it adept in both escort and ground attack missions. The P-47D was the main production variant of the P-47 family, with approximately 6,315 aircraft produced. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine and could reach a top speed of 433 mph at 30,000 ft. A famous variant of the P-47D was the D-25 "Razorback."
