The US M76 Amphibious Cargo Carrier "Otter" (Early Production) is an American tracked amphibious transporter of the Cold War era, developed in the early 1950s by Pontiac (a division of General Motors) to replace the outdated M29 Weasel transporters. The vehicle was intended to transport cargo and personnel over difficult terrain, swamps and water obstacles, moving on water using a propeller. Early production versions (Early Production) had an aluminum hull structure to reduce weight, were equipped with an air-cooled Continental engine and differed in the configuration of the troop compartment and details of the exhaust system and air intakes. The M76 "Otter" was actively used by the United States Marine Corps during the early phase of the Vietnam War to supply units in the Mekong Delta and difficult-to-reach swampy areas.
