Starting in 1942, the existing 5-ton half-track self-propelled anti-aircraft guns could no longer meet the requirements. The German army began to install the 37-mm FLAK 36 anti-aircraft gun on modified 8-ton half-track vehicles, which received the official military designation: Sd.Kfz. 7/2. Through constant evolution, three types of 37-mm guns were installed on them: FLAK 36, 37 and 43. From 1943, armor was added to the driver's compartment, providing some protection for the crew. The standard Sd.Kfz. 7/2 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun was produced from 1942 to January 1945, approximately 1,000 vehicles were manufactured. Each anti-aircraft battalion was equipped with 9 Sd.Kfz. 7/2, and from October 1943 this number increased to 12 per battalion.
