Assembled model 1:700 JMSDF Oyashio Class submarine Hobby Boss 87001

The first Oyashio-class submarine of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force was commissioned in 1998. As of 2006, nine Oyashio-class submarines were in service with the Self-Defense Force, with two more under construction or planning. The tenth was scheduled to enter service in 2007. The 268-foot-long Oyashio-class submarines can carry 20 torpedoes or UGM-84C anti-ship missiles. Unlike previous generations of Japanese submarines, the Oyashio-class submarines have bow torpedo tubes and a conformal sonar array on the hull.
