The Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the legendary British single-seat fighter designed by R. J. Mitchell, which became the backbone of RAF Fighter Command when it entered service in 1938. Early Mk.I models featured a fixed-pitch propeller, eight .303 Browning machine guns and a distinctive fuel tank flap. These aircraft played a crucial role in the early months of World War II and during the Battle of Britain, demonstrating the superiority of British aerodynamics and engineering.
