Special Operations Forces of Ukraine The modern Special Operations Forces (SSO) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were created in 2016 on the basis of already existing units and units, most of which already had some combat experience. As of the summer of 2023, the basis of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces is two special-purpose regiments, a special-purpose maritime center, a special operations center, and several other units. Among their main tasks are deep reconnaissance, combat raids behind enemy lines, search and evacuation of prisoners or hostages, anti-terrorist activities. The selection for special purpose units is very strict, only 10% of all candidates pass it. Special attention is paid to the equipment of SSO units. The composition of weapons, equipment and equipment includes the most modern samples, both of foreign production and made in Ukraine - as,
for example, the special machine gun "Vulkan", which has been supplied to special purpose units since 2017. Also, in 2020, the Special Operations Forces were the first in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to switch to the structure of the headquarters of the armies of NATO countries. During 2022-2023, Ukrainian special-purpose units successfully perform the most difficult combat tasks in all areas of hostilities.
