Smit Rotterdam Heller 80620 1:200 Sea Tug Building Kit

As ships and oil rigs grew in size in the 1970s, tugboats needed to be developed to support them. Tugs SMIT ROTTERDAM and SMIT LONDON, "sister ships" with a capacity of 22,000 hp, were built in 1975 at the De Merwede shipyard in Hardinksveld-Gyssendam (Netherlands). For a long time, these two ocean tugs were the largest and most powerful in the world. They were specially designed to tow very heavy items such as offshore platforms over long distances and in all weather conditions, as well as to support vessels in need. It doesn't matter in which ocean. After a career of nearly 40 years, they were written off in India in 2013 and 2014.
