Avro Lancaster BII Airfix 08001 model aircraft

Avro Lancaster is a British four-engine strategic bomber of medium size with a metal structure of the Second World War. The flight of the prototype took place in January 1941, and serial production began in the same year. The basis for the creation of Lancaster was the Avro Manchester aircraft. Min served as an excuse. four V-shaped Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engines with a capacity of 1280 hp each. each (Mk.I) or 1,737 hp Bristol Hercules VI engines, although other engines were used. Serial production took place at the Avro, Metropolitan-Vickers, Armstrong Whitworth, Vickers Armstrong and Victoria Aircraft factories and by the beginning of 1946, 7,377 aircraft had been produced. There were four main variants of the Avro Lancaster (Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.III and Mk.X), all of which looked similar to each other. The Avro Lancaster was the main strategic bomber of the RAF and at the same time earned a reputation as the best. It was easy to pilot, had a high load capacity and was distinguished by great structural strength. It happened that the bomber managed to complete the task and return to the base, even despite the failure of one engine. The aircraft entered service in December 1941 and served until the end of the war, performing mainly strategic bombing missions. These Lancasters of the RAF's 617th Bomb Squadron were used in May 1943 to destroy the Ruhr Dams. Technical data (Mk.I version): length: 21.11m, wingspan: 31.09m, height: 6.25m, maximum speed: 456km/h, maximum range: 4073km, maximum ceiling 6500m, armament: stationary 7.7 mm automatic Browning guns, mounted - up to 6300 kg of bombs or one Big Helmet bomb (10000 kg) after the bomb chamber is completed.
